How teenagers write text messages

Are you not really into new tech and social media? Are you over 30? Your younger brother or  your teenager sends you messages and you say to yourself “but what does that mean?”. Well you’ve come to the right place! EcoleDeLangues.be will dissect with you a couple of expressions of young people that can be found everywhere on the internet or in private messages. Here is what you need to know to survive in this jungle of social networks and new ways of communication…

Jpp = J’en peux plus :
I can’t take it anymore / I cannot stand it anymore
You can use it as well when something’s really funny.

Tsb = Tu sais bien:
You know…

Y’a R = Il n’y a rien:
There’s nothing. The ‘R’ can be use for “Rien” (nothing) in any sentence!

-A r (à rien) »

Oklm = Au calme :
Popularized by rapper Booba, this abbreviation is equivalent to a “no problem”

« – Alors math t’as géré ? – Oklm»

Askip = à ce qu’il parait : Apparently

« Askip j’suis trop agressif »

Msk = Miskine :
Arabic word to express pity, when something sad or shameful happens. The term is used much as desired.

Wsh = wesh :
It is difficult to exactly explain this word =, you could compare it to a punctuation mark.

Wlh = Wallah :
Used like the above expression wesh, this term has nothing to do with it (basically it’s a way of swearing by god in Arabic).

I don’t know

« -Tu penses venir à la soirée vdd ?

-Jsp encore. »

Blc = Bat les c******s :
I don’t care… to be polite.  But it’s rather something like “I don’t give a f**)

-Blc »

Let's play: do you understand whats' behind?

Answer

Do you now understand these expressions of young people?
