Conversation table in Brussels

It is very likely that if you are looking to take a language course in Brussels, you will hear about conversation tables. The proposals are indeed numerous. So what to choose? A classic lesson or a conversation table? what are the advantages? And its drawbacks?

The advantages of conversation tables…

A conversation table brings together several people wishing to improve their language skills around a facilitator (sometimes a teacher). The goal is therefore to speak together, to discuss, more or less freely under the guidance of the latter.

The advantage of such a formula is undoubtedly its dynamic and social character. In addition to the meetings you can make there, you will have the pleasure of speaking a foreign language freely and in a real situation.

Another significant advantage is the price.

This formula is extremely inexpensive. Count less than 10 € per session. Some are even free!

And their drawbacks.

If your goal is really to learn a language, the conversation table will not be enough. Learning a language requires, in addition to putting into practice in a real situation, to be able to assimilate the different structures of the language.

Doing a little grammar and conjugation is therefore an essential step!

Note also that for beginners, a conversation table will be of little use. Difficult indeed to start and speak without any basis!

Our opinion

For students who are at an intermediate level, participating in a conversation table is a really good idea!

This is the opportunity to talk and put into practice what has been seen in a classic course.

For beginners and advanced levels the benefit is much less obvious.

A conversation table will not allow beginners to assimilate the basic structures of the language. As for the advanced, some may feel frustrated not to speak with native speakers and, therefore, not to improve their level. If your goal is really to learn a language, the conversation table will not be sufficient. What should I choose?

Our solution is simple: opt for very small group lessons focused on conversation!

Their advantages:

– the dynamics of conversation tables
– following a classic course with learning the structures of the language
– monitoring by an experienced teacher
– the speaking time dedicated to each, with feedback from the teacher.
